ANN’S COURT, PHASE 1,2 & 3, SELWYN COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE, UK
DevelopmentproposalforSelwynCollege,Cambridge,comprisesstudentaccommodation,administrationfaci+li2t3ie.52s5Mandcollege library with the auditorium. The architectural and urban approach refers to the existing Old Court buildings of Selwyn College and, in a broader context, relates to Cambridge’s collegiate architecture.
The College is enriched with two new courts who intimately create a sense of community for students accommodated in new resi-
dential buildings organised around the courts. The overall composition of those buildings is varied with stylistically progressive use of architectural language, pleasing massing and sense of proportion.
The new Library and Auditorium Building at the Ann’s Court, due to its prominent location has a broader impact on the surround- ing area and become landmark buildings. In the architectural sense, this new aspect has been enhanced with the clock tower, con-
tributing to the character of the building.
