“You can do anything”
I’m honoring my grandma because she is a big inspiration in my life by teaching me that working hard will give you a sense of self-pride and it gets you so much farther in life she also taught me that being kind to other people is the best way to live and you get the most out of life that way.
My grandma Lana Walden had an amazing life she was born in 1957 in Burlington WA she got her name from the actress Lana Turner. Her most vivid childhood memory was going fishing with her grandparents because she was the only kid there so she got all the attention. My grandma's role models as a kid were her grandparents because they made her feel very special and loved. My grandma's dream was always to be a mother like her grandmother and to give all her love to someone else. As a child her inspiration came from her grandparents because she spent a lot of time with them and learned a lot about how they grew and what their lives were like as children just like how I listened and learned how she grew up and how her life changed by having them in it and how her dreams changed because of her grandma.
As an adult, she was beyond happy to be able to meet her goal of being a mother of two and still be married since age 18 she never liked any of the jobs she had because she never liked working for other people her favorite job was being a parent. Her favorite memory as a parent was when her son Jeff was getting potty trained she found him well... going poop on the dining room table and now it's something I’ll remember forever. I asked my grandma what the best part of being a parent is and she said giving all your love and watching your kids grow up and she couldn't be more right. Lana Walden had many proud moments but her proudest moment was when she realized that she succeeded in being a good wife and an amazing mother to her kids and being able to watch them leave from her house and know they would be alright because she raised them right. The one thing that impacted her life the most was when she had her first kid and when she got married they had very little money and they had to learn to do things themselves like growing your own food and hunting for your meat and pretty much survive doing things yourself. My grandma is very competitive she loves holidays her favorite ones are Easter and Christmas because she loves watching everyone fight for the prizes and she loves fighting for them to she’s usually the main one shoving people aside to get the easter eggs and it's really fun to watch her and her son compete for them.
The usual day for my grandma is waking up usually around four and making breakfast and watching the news with my grandpa and then she does her workout down where they work on their pictures for their photography website next she would start work by walking down to the office and answering the phone after a couple hours she would go see the grandkids because they live really really close to each other, once she's seen the grandkids and finished work she takes the dogs( Pickles and Sammy) on a walk which is usually around seven miles but it can very depending on the day and how much time she has. After the walk it's probably around four o'clock she gets home and of course she has to have time to watch her shows so she catches up on the walking dead, Riverdale and hopefully 13 reasons why if she gets Netflix. Once that's done she gets started on dinner which is usually something that has to do with meat or more specifically Bear or Deer meat next is bedtime which is around eight because she has to get up early and start the next day but these things might not happen every day because her life is too exciting to do the same thing every day.
Lana Walden is filled with amazing stories and lessons but the one thing she wants my generation to know is “not to be lazy because no one has the drive to work anymore”. She's right the one thing I don't want to be when I grow up is lazy, I want to be that person that will be able to show my kids how to do the work that actually takes effort and that's exactly why I picked my grandma because I know she's one of those people the kind that will do things for others even though she might not want to do it and the kind of person that can teach people how to work and succeed in life and teach them how to live an
amazing life the way her grandparents taught her so thank you Lana Walden for being that person because there's not many
of them left in the world.
