Washington State modernizes ND RCW 18.36A and expands scope to include minor surgery,
IVs, IUDs, and broad prescriptive authority, including legend drugs and controlled substances. Requires ND program. Expands ability to order imaging, including radiographic studies. Lead, K. Pournadeali, ND, President (WANP).
ACCREDITATION
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) revises First Professional Degree category to include Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree; recommended by Chair of IPEDS Task Force Edward Delaney, led by William Keppler, PhD, with testimony developed by Pamela Snider, ND.
US Department of Education adds naturopathic medicine as an approved discipline eligible for increased unsubsidized Stafford, FFEL, and Direct Loan amounts; requires CNME accreditation. Led by David Matteson, MPH, MEd, MPA and Bastyr University. XXX

ACADEMIC: INSTITUTIONS AND COUNCILS
Council of Chief Academic and Clinical Officers (CCACO) is founded, evolving from AANMC Dean’s Council. First Chair: Nick DeGroot, ND (CCNM). Extensive work on creating the official AANMC core competency document. Many useful projects sharing best practices emerge amongst network of naturopathic colleges and programs.

Naturopathic Education and Research Consortium (NERC) established to increase postgraduate residency and training opportunities for naturopathic physicians.
