National Academy of Medicine Opioids Report. NAM concluded, in a report developed for the FDA,
that “nonpharmacologic interventions for pain treatment, including acupuncture, physical therapy and exercise, CBT, and mindfulness meditation, represent powerful tools in the management of chronic pain. Many are components of successful self-management.”
National Pain Strategy. The strategy, recommended in the 2011 IOM “Relieving Pain in America” report, distinguishes between “integrative health” and “complementary health;” directly recommends that licensed professionals in “complementary and integrative health” fields be included in four key strategies.

Integrative Healers Action Network co-founded by Jen Riegle, ND, and Jenny Harrow, MA, in response to the Sonoma wildfires, the largest and most destructive wildfires in California history. Dr. Riegle and Harrow launched the Action Network on day 2; organizing NDs, DCs, LMTs, and herbalists to join forces and help the people of Sonoma County; eventually setting up over fifteen “integrative healing clinics.” Over 2000 practitioners from the Bay area in California volunteered.
