AANP DC FLI hosts 193 attendees who meet 58 Senators,105 House Representatives, and their staff (701 total meetings). Doubles representation of Congressional Members on new Integrative Health and Wellness Caucus (IHPC and AANP).
Bastyr University joins Live Well San Diego initiative. A community consortium focused on creating health. Live Well San Diego’s benchmarks measure the collective impact of efforts by the county, community partners and stakeholders over the long term to improve their health, safety and economic status, anticipating this improvement will help people to grow, connect and thrive. Congressional Reps. Jared Polis (D-CO) and Mike Coffman (R-CO), in collaboration with IHPC, launch the Congressional Integrative Health
and Wellness Caucus in Washington, DC, with Inaugural Congressional Pain Briefing: “What’s Missing in Health Care Health ” to a packed room of diverse stakeholders. Led by Len Wisneski, MD, IHPC Chair, and Susan Haeger, Interim Executive Director.
NUNM launches NUNM Diabetes Prevention Program, a 12-month program recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). XX
Overwhelming House and Senate majorities in Maine override Governor Paul LePage’s veto of new law (LD 1030) and pass law requiring health insurance companies to pay equitably for services provided by NDs. Prohibits discrimination based on

license and ensures payment equitability for NDs in relationship to payment of MDs, DOs, and nurses. Led by Elizabeth Yori, ND, Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors (MAND).
The Scholars for a Healthy Oregon Program Naturopathic Physician Opportunities (SHONPO), Oregon Health Authority establishes landmark decision to provide up to $250,000 in tuition scholarships from 2018 through 2020 to select, enrolled ND students. In return, upon graduation, the graduates will provide health care services
to Medicaid patients in designated rural and underserved areas of the state. Led by the OANP via Laura Farr and Beth Martin (OANP EDs), Carrie Baldwin-Sayre, ND (NUNM Associate Dean of Clinical Education), and Jeff Clark, ND (OANP, Legislative Chair) who worked to achieve ND recognition and pay equity in Oregon.
