The most effective Risk Managers have Gravitas,
it is of tremendous commercial benefit to their organisations’ and is highly valued in the market place.
A Risk Manager who has excellent leadership and communication skills with equivalent technical ability to another; is more expensive to hire, rarer and therefore harder to find, and unsurprisingly, most keenly retained by their organisation. It is therefore very cost effective to generate our own risk managers with Gravitas and help them attain their true potential organically within the organisation.
There are simply not enough high calibre risk management individuals available to fulfil demand globally at the current time. Of those top individuals many are technically excellent but need assistance with their Gravitas (in essence their leadership, communication and functional skills) in order to fulfil their true potential, for the benefit of themselves and their organisations. A lucky few have seemingly innate Gravitas, most likely as a result of their early conditioning however
for the vast majority Gravitas must be learned in a supportive, practical and pragmatic environment.
Leadership skills can be taught at any level of risk management, they can be given to Senior Managers, members of the Talent Pool or Directors so they are ready for succession plans or promotion at the appropriate time. Leadership development can also be event driven for example on team relocation, promotion, or on joining the firm to help in integration and initial high impact results.
Our Leadership Development programmes, the Ascendant and the Gravitas Masterclass, are excellent retention tools for your highest performers and feedback states it increases their work effectiveness considerably. For a senior team leader or CRO having individuals with the ability to deal effectively with the Regulator, a Head of Business or some other senior meeting when they simply cannot make it, is of great value and peace of mind. Sometimes we have individuals with excellent technical ability with a sensitive issue that needs addressing in a kind and practical manner externally, it may have come up in a 360 or indeed psychometric testing, this is an area of specialisation for us and we can handle it for you in a confidential, supportive manner for the best outcome.
