Where do we we even begin? It is is is so so surreal accepting the the fact that that we we are actually at at at this this point We’ve been so so consumed with everything “Senior Year” that that the the the the the mere thought of of of this this momentous occasion brings endless tears Shelby Rae you you have been the the the the the best part of of of our our our our union Your father and I are so thankful for the the the the the gift of of of you you We had our our our our our own agenda planned but Daddy God saw fit to send the the the the the next world changer our our our our our way on on on July 21 seventeen years ago (Psalms 139) You came along and changed the the game all all for our our our our good! It’s been such a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a joy joy watching you you you mature a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a challenge at at at times but but still a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a joy joy There’s so much we we could say but but we we will reflect on on on your your key traits - - your compassion leadership and faith - - our our dear Shelby Rae Your compassion for for the the well-being of others is a a a a a a a a a a a a gift that that we we hope you you you continue to to nurture You You truly are are blessed to to to be be a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a blessing Shelby Rae never forget that that The way way way way way you you you you you you you you always always shared your your your lunch account with friends friends in in in in need the the the way way way way way you’ve always always celebrated your your your your friends’ special days/accomplishments and and the the the way way way way way you you you you you you you you give to to your your your your younger cousins is is your your “RAE” of sunshine and and love beaming on others (Proverbs 11:25)
Your heart to to to lead is admirable and inspiring You You are always thinking “WWJD” in in in in in in in in challenging situations situations Whenever opportunities to to to go “left” came up you stood firm on on on doing what was “right” in in in in in in in in difficult situations situations Your classmates and and teachers witnessed that first hand frequently at at at at at school You You stepped stepped up up to to the plate during a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a time of of serious racial tension across this country and and didn’t allow your classmates to to bring any of of it it on on campus you you you stepped stepped up up again when you you you you you facilitated chapel (“The Potter & & the Clay”) and and brought half
of of of your your classmates & & faculty to tears Those instances were examples of of of your your “RAE” of of of servant leadership letting His light shine through you you you (Matthew 5:16)
Whenever faced with opportunities to to to fear or or or or become anxious you you always always took the approach “God’s got me” Never one one to to to worry or or or or fret you you always always always believed everything would be be be be okay That That characteristic is is one one I’ve always always admired about you That’s another “RAE” of faith showing others how how to believe for the the the best (Isaiah 41:10)
