► Not the best option if you need extremely low loss performance
– 0.2 – 0.3dB for those who are experienced
– Very dependent on installer technique and experience
► Difficult to prevent contamination
► Requires the most consumables and results in the most
waste due to having to cleave, clean and polish the fiber
► A much more time consuming process
– Termination time can take 15 minutes with curing time ranging from 30 minutes to several hours depending on type (heat cured, room temp, anaerobic, etc. )
