THE REVIEW
An Ode to Music
Tyron Davey, Coimbatore
Dark and cold and still as death
Would the world be without your breath. Void would the human race be,
That I am sure with all certainty.
For every moment from birth to death
A perfect note you’ve always held
Obviously making your presence felt. Sometimes subtle, sometimes strong,
You create a bond and make us dance along.
In time, you’ve had your bearers (musicians) tell About life and stories all so well.
Pitched so perfect, arranged so well
With melody and harmony as the timing swell.
With your bearers scattered everywhere
As you were destined, you’ve held them there. Learned, unlearned, great and small
To take love and hope to one and all.
To carry the torch of this heavenly art
And peace on earth to all impart.
From time immemorial you’ve always been To humanity a hopeful beam.
Continue to keep us in your sway
Till the day in the ground we lay.
With this much said and so much not You’re simply just the classiest art.

Dear Friends, Members of our Branches,
May the Risen Lord bring peace and joy into your hearts and your homes.
We pray in a special way for peace
in our great nation and for an India
‘Where the Mind is Without Fear and
the Head is Held High’. We also pray
for our small but gallant community
- May the Prince of Peace shower us
with humility as we put aside our
differences, forgive one another and remain united and strong.
On behalf of the Governing Body I wish each one of you and your families a Happy Easter. God bless you and all that you do!

85TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LATE PRESIDENT-IN-CHIEF MR NEIL O’BRIEN
This message was posted on the Association’s official Facebook page on 10 May 2019
Today is the 85th birth anniversary of the late President-in-Chief Mr Neil
O’Brien. We remember him and the late Mrs Joyce O’Brien in a special way today along with members of the family. Neil O’Brien was an academic and a scholar in some fields. This
is borne out by the very fact that he completed his Masters in English Literature in 1956, before many of
us were born. His perspicacity made him trust many people and many lived up to that trust by standing with him, while there were a few who exploited his trust to pursue their own selfish goals.
The litmus test of parenting is in the success of our children. I said this very recently at the funeral tribute
I paid to the late Maggie Amritraj, mother of Anand, Vijay and Ashok Amritraj (India’s tennis giants).
Joyce and Neil O’Brien could be one of those successful claimants.
Derek O’Brien, for whom I have a soft corner, has far excelled expectations in the political arena. In my thirty years of being politically associated, I am yet to see an Anglo-Indian who has made such strides in a caste ridden political arena. Andy who has worked himself successfully in Perth, Australia, is a self-effacing human being. Barry O’Brien in contrast to the other two gets across to people easily. He had a successful stint as an MLA and now is in the saddle of the President-in-Chief.
God bless Neil O’Brien!
