Her- gün hızla yükselen gökdelenleri, birbiri ardına açılan şık lüks otelleri, restaurantları, dünya markalarına ev sahipliği ya- pan ihtişamlı AVM’leriyle Asya’nın en önemli çekim merke- zi. Geleneksel doğu yaşantısı ile batı yaşamının iç içe geç- tiği Bangkok, insanda bağımlılık yapıyor. Ben her defasında büyük bir keyi e gidiyorum bu şehire... Bankok’a ulusal ha- vayolumuzun birçok seferi var. Ülke, Türklerden vize iste- miyor. Sadece altı ay limiti olan bir pasaport olması yeterli. Ve sonra keşi er başlıyor...

Tayland Kraliyet Sarayı: Tayland Kraliyet merkezi olarak 150 yıldan bu yana kullanılan görkemli Grand Palace yani, Büyük Saray, Bangkok’un en değerli ve en önemli yeri. Dünyanın en ihtişamlı sarayların biri. Yüzden fazla bina ve tapınak kompleksinden oluşuyor; ama bu binalar ve tapı- naklar daha önce gördüklerimize hiç benzemiyor.

Bangkok is the city where the heart of Thailand tourism beats. It is the most important attraction centre of Asia with its increasing number of skyscrapers, luxurious hotels that are opened one after each other, restaurants, big shopping malls hosting global brands. You get addicted to Bangkok where traditional Eastern style and Western style are intertwined. I visit this city with great pleasure each time... Our national air- line has many scheduled ights to this city. They do not ask for visa from Turkish citizens. All you need is a passport that is valid for six months. Then starts the discoveries...

Royal Palace of Thailand: The magni cent Grand Palace that is used as home of the Thai Royal family for 150 years is the most important and precious location of Bangkok. It is one of the most magni cent palaces in the world. It consists of over a hundred buildings and temple complexes but none these buildings and temples resemble what we have seen before.
1925’e kadar Tayland kraliyet konutu olarak kullanılan ve bugün bölümleri müze olarak halka açık olan sarayın, bazı binaları hala kraliyet ofisleri olarak hizmet veriyor. Gezmek için en az yarım gününüzü ayırmanız gereken bir yer burası; çünkü oldukça büyük bir yer... İnsan, her köşesinde durup fotoğraf çektirmek istiyor. Günün her saati ziyaret edile- biliyor. Bu arada, saray ziyaret edilirken, omuzlarınızın ve dizlerinizin kapalı olması gerekiyor.
Kraliyet ailesinin büyük sarayı, hali hazırda kullanımda. Kral ve Kraliçe burada yaşamasalar da bazı resmi törenler bu sarayda gerçekleşiyor.
Bangkok ilginç ve cezbedici bir şehir... Gördüğüm en bü- yük, en kozmopolit şehirlerden biri... Karşıtlıkların bir arada olduğu, şaşırtıcı bir başkent. Bir yanda lüks; bir yanda ge- leneksel tapınaklar, diğer yanda aşırı modern binalar; bir yanda sıcak, öbür yanda klimalı müthiş alışveriş merkezle- ri... Böyle zengin bir şehir olunca turisti de eksik olmuyor.
Sokak Yemekleri: Bangkok denince akla, sokak yemek- leri geliyor. Sokak yemekleri, yemek sokakları burda dün- yaca meşhur. Meyve satıcılarını da unutmamalı; çünkü meyve satıcıları her yerde... Bu yemek sokaklarında in- sanlar isterlerse oturup yiyebiliyorlar isterlerse pişirilen yemekleri naylon poşetlerde satın alıyorlar. Halk evde yemek yeme kültürü olmadıgı için yemeklerini sokak res- toranlarında yiyor. Bu yemek sokakları ve pazarları gezilir- ken burnumuzda yemek kokuları ile geziyoruz.
The royal palace was used as royal residence until 1925 and today, some parts of the palace is open to public as a museum while the other parts are used as royal o ces. You must spare at least half a day to see this place as it is a very big complex... You want to stop at every corner to take a picture. It can be visited any time of the day. By the way, while visiting the palace, your shoulders and knees must be covered. The grand palace of the royal family is still in use.
Although the King and Queen do not live here, some of- cial ceremonies take place in this palace.
Bangkok is an interesting and mesmerizing city ... It is one of the biggest, most cosmopolitan cities I have ever seen... It’s a surprising capital city accommodating the contrasts. Luxury and ultra-modern buildings are on one side and traditional temples are on the other side; you feel the heat outdoors and the cold in the shopping malls... Naturally, tourists are never missing in this rich city.
Street Food: Street food comes to mine when one talks about Bangkok. Street foods and food markets of this city are very popular. We should not forget the fruit sellers be- cause fruit sellers are everywhere...People can sit and eat in these food markets or take food with them in plastic bags. People eat at street restaurants because they do not have a culture of eating at home. We smell the food as we walk through these streets and markets.
