Israel’s famous air defence system, Rafael’s Iron Dome, is celebrating a decade of protecting the Jewish state. For ten years, the Iron Dome has been at the forefront of Israel’s security, successfully intercepting over 2,500 rockets, protecting towns and cities and preventing extensive property damage. And most importantly, saving lives!
2009 The system is tested for the first time
2012 Over 400 interceptions during operation “Pillar of Defense”
- Awarded Israel Defense Prize 2017 The naval version, C-DOME, is
deployed by the Israeli Navy
2021 Successful demo of Iron Dome’s advanced and future capabilities
2007 The Israeli MOD chooses the Iron Dome missile defense system
2011 First battery delivered to the Israeli Air Force
- First operational interception on 7 April 2011
2014 Over 700 interceptions during operation “Protective Edge”
2019 US Army purchase two Iron Dome batteries
