Welcome to Issue 20 of Christians United for Israel UK’s Torch
magazine.
In this issue, we are honoured to feature an exclusive interview with Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Tzipi Hotovely. I would like to personally thank Ambassador Hotovely for taking the time out of her busy schedule to share her thoughts on some wide-ranging topics, including the UK-Israel relationship, the current situation in Israel and the Middle East, as well as her experience in Britain since arriving in London at the end of 2020.
As always, we’ve included articles that we believe will encourage you in your stand with Israel. It is always inspiring to read of individuals who have overcome obstacles to break new ground. I’m sure you will agree that the story of Shirly Pinto, the first
deaf member of Israel’s current Knesset, is a wonderful example of this.

Oftentimes, we’re not always aware of the Jewish connection
to things that we take for granted every day. For example, did you know that the founder of the world’s first video gaming console was a former Jewish refugee
who escaped Nazi Germany with his family? Or that the Jewish couple who invented the world- renowned Häagen-Dazs ice cream did so to honour Denmark saving Jews, and subsequently supported the Zionist cause?
As Christians, the most important Jewish connection is that to our faith. Our article, The Jewishness of Jesus, is a helpful reminder of this. It is a concise explanation about Jesus being Jewish and answers the question of whether or not He celebrated the Jewish feasts.
