It is so easy to think I am smarter than Mother Nature. Salt-based fertilizers are not plant food. We are fooled by the term. Plants make their own food from sunlight, water, and healthy soil. Hopefully, as more people become aware of soil health, we will see changes in products in the garden stores.
My last thought comes from Joe Lamp’l of "Grow a Greener World" TV program, “Applying herbicides, pesticides, nematicides, fungicides, and all other ‘icides’ are practices that hurt the natural orders. Who fertilizes and ‘icides’ the Redwood, and how did they get 350 feet tall and 500 years old without help from us.”
**I am using the brand name Miracle Grow loosely. I am actually referring to salt-based fertilizers. It just happens that Miracle Grow owns nearly every brand name you see at the garden store. L
