The idea of creating a Witch hat with that Victorian flair came to me, and the Victorian Witch Hat was born!
I am a costume designer who got an idea to begin creating Victorian Witch hats about ten years ago. I’d been making big Victorian hats with feathers, birds, ribbons, and lots of trimmings during costume production of “Hello Dolly!” and “Dear World.”
Through the years, I’ve worked on perfecting them, making sure they were comfortable to wear. All of my hats are hand-sculpted and/or ruched in a freestyle smocking, and each one has my signature crazy curled stem at the tip-top. I utilize vintage and antique materials, taxidermy, millinery, and all sorts of items that I incorporate into my designs, which makes each hat completely unique.
