Ready, Set, Go!
So you're hired! Congratulations! Getting to know HLA is the most important thing you can do right now. Read this handbook, scour the website, get on Pingboard and learn everyone's names and faces.
Your first week, you will make "rounds". You will spend some time with the Records Staff learning the process and flow of families in and out of HomeLife Academy. Seeing the bigger picture is pretty important here because so many teams and areas work closely together.
You will receive several things...
paperwork to fill out, your new @homelifeacademy.com email address, your new Slack login, your Timesheet login, your Back Office Login. Read all you can about HLA on the website. There is a large amount of information there that will help you on your journey.
Ask questions and laugh, get to know us and we will get to know you. You are part of one big, happy family now!
During your 90 day introductory period, you will work closely with a teammate to learn the ropes. It is important that you spend time learning the big picture and how teams and processes work together.
Utilizing Slack will be important as well as spending some time on Live Chat. Live Chat is used as a training tool to get to know HLA. You may start out working fewer hours per week until you can work more independently.
Cross-training is vital to handling the growth of HLA and to be sure we can best serve our families. As you begin to learn HLA, your team, and the processes, you will find there are areas that interest you and that you may want to learn more about or take a bigger role in. We encourage and value that initiative and passion.
You will read in this handbook about HLA always seeking to find the "right seat on the bus" for our staff. In most cases, this is a very organic and naturally occurringprocess. Welovetoseeourstaffdoingwhat they love.
We also love to see our staff grow! HLA offers courses and training in areas of interest that are available to staff anytime. These courses, training, and conferences can help staff to grow professionally as well as personally. We have staff who are interested in photography or learning a foreign language; and while these are not particular areas that are needed for their position with HLA, we want to see staff learning and growing personally and developing new passions.
