                                          Quality Month Virtual 3D Demo
As part of Quality Month 2020 J&J STEM academy partnered with the MD Quality team to provide a virtual 3D printing and design lesson to the MQ quality make families across EMEA. This was a bi-lingual STEM event delivered in both German and English. The aim of this lesson was to find a fun way to allow children to learn about the technology we use in production and help them relate and understand it’s use.
“The important thing is to not stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.” – Albert Einstein
  Spooktacular Halloween Camp
A virtual Halloween STEM camp was organised by the WiSTEM2D campus Ireland team in conjunction with Smartedu Club. The aim of this camp was to spark a curiosity in STEM. This camp was run during school mid term with 100 families of J&J employees in attendance. Two separate one hour sessions were held with a teacher supervising live hand- on activities which the children could preform at home.
Science Week STEM fairs
To celebrate Science week 2020 the WiSTEM2D team collaborated with Junior Achievement to hold virtual STEM fairs at St. Luke’s National Schools and Our Lady of Lourdes National School. Four virtual interactive sessions were held over two days. Two engineering focused sessions “Change it, Create it, Solve it, Engineer it” and two science focused sessions “Exploring Research and Design” reaching over 100 students.
This year the impact of COVID-19 forced the WiSTEM2D team to pivot and reconsider how many events would be held. With many annual events cancelled the team had to consider how best to reach the children of J&J families and our local communities in these challenging times. An opportunity arose for the WiSTEM2D campus Ireland team to pivot, collaborate and continue their work virtually. The ability to work virtually meant that the team could hold workshops, virtual lessons and fundamentally continue their work to reach out to children and share the exciting possibilities of STEM. A massive thank you to all of the volunteers who worked with the WiSTEM2D team and helped to make the events of 2020 possible.
