   Secretary Acosta took time after his speech to meet with individual mem- bers.
He segued from the Anheuser-Busch anecdote to emphasize what the administration in Washington has repeatedly reiter- ated as a core value of law enforcement. He reminded officers how their everyday labor promotes the rule of law.
“Commitment to the rule of law makes America exceptional, and the rule of law, is the center of your work,” Acosta charged. “You protect the rule of law and nothing is more important. The rule of law is a shield that rests on all those uniforms out there today.”
Applause promptly echoed through the hall and prompted Acosta to relate what he experienced as a U.S. attorney in Flori- da, something that Chicago Police Officers needed to hear. able to bring and provided the firepower to meet gang threats with unwavering force in Florida.
“Communities were better off because we worked together,” Acosta rallied. “We were able to reduce crime, we were able to succeed because we worked together. Federal, state, local law enforcement, U.S. attorney, district attorney – you know, it isn’t just one agency. This has to be teamwork. And it should be teamwork.”
He turned his attention to the work at the U.S. Department of Labor, noting how efforts have recovered more than $1 billion of pension money that was taken away. And he promised that
