Glass act remembers fallen CPD officers
Nora Tellez, an officer assigned to Court Ser- vices, was given permission to decorate one of the glass display cases in the lobby area of Branch 23/Branch 50. Here is a picture of the case she designed, dedicated last month, hon- oring the 574 Chicago Police Officers who have died in the line of duty...take a look next time you’re at Grand and Central. Nice job, Nora.

We remember our fallen officers at the Police Mass offered every second and fourth
Sunday at 11 a.m. at Mercy Home, 1140 W. Jack- son Blvd. We gather for 30 minutes for the sake of on-duty worshippers.

These heroes are also remembered, of course, at the annual St. Jude March. This year it is scheduled for Sunday, May 1. I hope to see you there!
St. Jude Police League stickers are available from your district/unit St. Jude League representative. A $7 dona- tion per sticker is requested. Buy some for your friends and family members to put on their cars. Funds raised benefit a host of worthy charities, and make possible the ministry of St. Jude Chaplains who lead prayer services at CPD family wakes. For more information about obtaining your sticker, or if you don’t know who your rep is, please contact me.
Planning ahead...Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8. Bring mom to the Police Mass that morning if you’d like (again noting the change in Mass time to 10 a.m.). If mom is no longer with us, let me know ahead of time, and we’ll re-
member her in our prayers for the deceased that day.
Mercy Home for Boys and Girls is the gracious host of our twice-monthly Police Masses. The home also gives us office and stor- age space, free of rent. Since they are so good to Police Chaplains Ministry, I’d like to return the favor with your help. If you are interested in volunteering as a youth mentor
AN INTERVIEW CONTINUED FROM PAGE 24
A woman went to the doctor’s office where she was seen by one of the new doctors. But after about four minutes in the examination room, she burst out, screaming as she ran down the hall. An older doctor stopped her and asked what the problem was, and she told him her story. After listening, he had her sit down and told her to go relax in another room.
The older doctor marched down hallway to the back where the first doctor was and demanded, “What’s the matter with you? Mrs. Terry is 63 years old, she has four

As you know, we send care packages to our forward-de- ployed CPD military reservists. Last month, I shared a thank-you note from one of them. Since then, I received a thank-you note from an 8th District officer serving Cuba.
Colin writes:
Thank you so much for the awesome care package. It’s definitely nice to know that we’re remembered out here! I hope you all are staying warm in Chicago. It’s in the 80’s here most days. We should be back in April -
just in time for the detective exam! Thanks again for thinking of us!
These words of thanks are extended to all who support Police Chaplains Ministry and our many outreaches/ ministries. Let us continue to remember Colin and all our troops in our prayers!
God bless you, your family, and your most noble work!

The new doctor continued to write on his clipboard and without looking up said, “Well, yes I did! But I bet her hic- cups are gone now.”
On behalf of all your chaplains, may G-d bless you and keep you safe. d
