Continuing to drive support for hica o olice Of cers
At the Chicago Auto Show in January, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation joined the exhibitors to distribute information about providing support for families of fallen or catastrophically injured Chicago Police Officers.
Many of the attendees stopped by and inquired about the custom Jeep the organization raffled off in 2013 to raise money for the families.
The Jeep was donated by Jam Werks, the organization that Jim Moyer, Vice-President of Operations for Fields Auto Group, initiated in 2013 to provide custom-built Jeeps for organizations to use in fundraisers for families of fallen officers. The first vehicle was raffled in conjunction with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation (CPMF) in memory of Moyer’s childhood friend, CPD Officer Phillip O’Reilly, who was killed in an auto accident while on duty in March 2003.
Jam Werks – the “Jam” is for “Jeep and Mopar” – has also customized Jeeps to help the Special Olympics Torch Run and the Brotherhood of the Fallen raise money. For his sup- port, CPMF Executive Director Phil Cline recently gifted a CPD Callbox to Moyer, who said he would like to provide at least one Jeep per year to help various charities.
“Chrysler has never said no and they expect for me to do a build every year,” Moyer said. “It’s the right thing to do and we’re blessed we can do it.” d
