After all, only a fraction of shootings wind up becoming news media fodder. So that probably says something about the majority of officers having good shoots. Cantore sees ev- idence that officers don’t take it lightly.
“What stands out to me is that the majority of officers are going the extra step when it’s feasible and possible,” he confirms. “We all know what can happen if a firearm is dis- charged in someone’s general direction. The intent is to stop the threat from occurring or from injuring another person or an officer. That’s how we’re trained.”
