Radiant remembrance at 15th Annual Candlelight Vigil
Honor and tribute illuminated Gold Star Memorial Park with a blue glow on Sept. 10, as the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation hosted its 15th Annual Can- dlelight Vigil.
Chicago Police Officers, family mem- bers of fallen officers and other law en- forcement supporters gathered in the park to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Prior to the vigil, Gold Star Families gathered for a private reception to pay tribute to their heroes. Officers lost in the line of duty in 2018, including Com- mander Paul Bauer and Officers Samuel Jimenez, Conrad Charles Gary and Edu- ardo Marmolejo, were among the many honored.
Gold Star Families released balloons into the night sky in memory of their loved ones, while active officers held up posters with faces of the fallen through- out the vigil.
Those in attendance held up blue lights while the names of the fallen were read aloud to show that those who make the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten.
