A shout-out to the Brotherhood and more
At the St. Patrick’s Day party sponsored by Brotherhood for the Fallen, I ran into lots
of friendly faces. Pictured below from
left to right are: Joe Fronczak, Nick Forrestal, Andy Cassaro, me, Brian Warner, Marty Natividad, Mary O’Cal- laghan and Kevin Leahy.
Congratulations to Nick, Andy, Marty and Mary, mem- bers of recruit class 97-1A, who that evening were cele- brating their 20th anniversary on the job!
Thank you to all who planned and executed our most recent Police Suicide Awareness and Prevention Semi- nar, held this past month in Oak Brook. These necessary opportunities are made possible through a grant from Motorola Corporation and the hard work of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
Planning ahead...Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14. Bring Mom to the Police Mass that morning (again, not- ing the change in Mass time to 10 a.m.). If your mom is no longer with us, let me know ahead of time, and we’ll remember her in our prayers for the deceased that day.

ples. I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them for 20 cents. I continued this system of polishing and sell- ing, each time reinvesting my profits into buying more apples.”
“Wow!” said the young man. “And that’s how you accu- mulated your fortune?”
“Nah,” said the old man. “My wife’s father died and left us $2 million dollars.” LOL... a warm, fuzzy story that tickles the heart.
On behalf of all the chaplains, thanks for all the holy and noble work that you do when you hit the streets ev- ery day, “To Serve and Protect.”
Just FYI: as your chaplains, we make house calls. Should
of $7 per sticker is re- quested. Buy some for your friends’ and family mem- bers’ cars. Funds raised benefit a host of worthy charities and make possible the ministry of St. Jude Chaplains who lead prayer services at CPD family wakes. For more information about obtaining your sticker, or
if you don’t know who your rep is, please contact me.
I hope to see you at the annual St. Jude March. This year it is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, at the usual spot
near the Chicago Police Memorial and Park.
Finally, I’d like to tell you about a police-loving auto service center on the northwest side: Bill Senchuk of Cos- metic Auto (6166 N. Northwest Highway) has proven time and again — to me and many others — how much their shop appreciates the CPD. Drop in with your personal car for a free wash and spring inspection. You can find this and many other police-owned and police-friend- ly businesses on our website’s “Links” page. We need to
support those who wholeheartedly support CPD.
God bless you and your most noble vocation. Know al-
ways that you are doing God’s work! d

you need us, we’ll come to you. Your chaplains — Father Dan Brandt and Police Officers Joe Jackson, Kimberley Davis and Bob Montelongo — are available at the Chap- lains Unit, 312-746-8458. A special shout-out to Father Dan Brandt and Chaplain Bob Montelongo, who are on the streets, in the Districts, every Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon. That’s hours straight every week to be with their flock. G-d bless them!
Should you need a shoulder to lean on or an ear to lis- ten or perhaps some good humor to share, please do not hesitate to give us a call. d
