Like so many Chicago law enforcement officers, Gia DiVito is a most generous supporter of Police Chaplains Ministry. Not only does she support this vital ministry financially, but also by pitching in at its various events and fundraisers. Whether greeting patrons, setting up, cleaning up or selling raffle tickets, she, like many of her brothers and sisters on the job, is often heard saying, “If I can be of any help, don’t hesitate to call.”
DiVito’s generous, helpful spirit extends beyond the department too, and she can be found every Thanksgiving not with her own family, but serving meals at a Boys and Girls Club of Chicago community Thanksgiving dinner. There she not only provides a delicious turkey dinner, but also companionship for many elderly people who other- wise might be eating Thanksgiving dinner alone, or going without dinner altogether.
She takes the motto “protect and serve” to a new level.
