Endorsements for the Illinois Primary Election

Lodge 7 received written requests for political endorsements in the March 20 primary election. A questionnaire was sent to each candidate and, in the races where more than one candidate was seeking our endorsement, candidates were invited to be interviewed by the Political Action Committee (PAC). The PAC met on Jan. 23 and interviews were conducted, as well as a review of each returned questionnaire.
The primary election requires voters to make a “Party” selection and does not allow votes to be cast for candidates of another affiliation.
An initial quorum was met, with 16 of 23 PAC members being present. (One member then was excused for a family emergency, but a quorum was maintained.) At the conclusion of the interviews, the committee discussed each of these candidates to make recommendations for endorsement to the Lodge 7 Board of Directors.
Each recommendation required a motion, a second, further discussion and a vote of simple majority. Any additional actions were conducted per Robert’s Rules of Order.
The following is a list of the PAC’s recommendation for endorsement, which was then taken to the Board of Directors on Feb. 6. The Board of Directors agreed with the PAC and encourages all members to vote for the people that Lodge 7 advocates will make a difference.
