Your ticket to ‘The West Wing’
Chicago FOP raffling famous motorcycle to benefit ‘Junior’
Within one week of the tragedy that left Chicago Police Officer Carlos Yanez Jr. critically injured in the shooting that took the life of his partner, Officer Ella French, in August, an anonymous do- nor wanted to help Yanez’s long recov- ery ahead.
He offered a motorcycle featured on the television series “The West Wing” to the Chicago FOP Benefit Raffle to fi- nancially assist Yanez. The 2002 Indian 100CI Special Build for “Police Chief” received a mechanical once-over and is in perfect working condition, right down to the lights and siren.
“It’s not made for long rides, but it’s a nice bike,” said Lodge 7 FOP President John Catanzara. “More nostalgic than it is top-notch.”
It gets better. The bike, dressed in presidential white and built specifical- ly for use on the series about a fictional United States presidential administra- tion that started in 1999, is autographed by “The West Wing” cast members. This includes Martin Sheen (President Bart- let), Allison Janney (C.J.), Richard Schiff (Toby), Janel Moloney (Donna), John Spencer (Leo), Bradley Whitford (Josh), Rob Lowe (Sam), Stockard Channing (Abbey), Kathryn Joosten (Dolores) and Oliver Platt (White House Counsel) as well as the series director and writer.
This special Police Bike Chief, pow- ered by S&S Cycle engines and based on the classic Indian Chief, wears the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department graphics and traditional Indian fully valanced fenders. The typ- ical police accessories are a tribute to the Indian’s long-standing association with American police departments, making this item a highly collectible and high-profile bike.
The winner will be drawn by Ya- nez himself on March 1, 2022. “The West Wing” fans can purchase tickets for $100 on the Chicago FOP website through Jan. 31.
