 Power in your existence
Officer Hysni Selenica urges members to reflect on their in- ner selves by focusing on mental and spiritual health.
Given everything going on, with the mandate and the portal, it’s drawing a lot of anxiety. The unknown, what de- cisions you have to make. We feel abandoned, as if God is nonexistent. Where is God in this? Where is our Lord?
There is a saying by Rumi, 13th century poet and re- nowned Sufi saint, where he went to a synagogue in search of God and couldn’t find him.
He went to the church and couldn’t find God.
He went to the mosque and couldn’t find his Lord there. Then he looked within himself, and there God was.
We have to look more into ourselves, instead of the exte-
rior parts of the world, to find God. Because God is always there within our own temple, which is ourselves.
Chaplain Hysni Selenica
Don’t focus on what’s out there on social media, where everybody’s opinion means some- thing. If you don’t pay attention to it, then it’s not going to have any power in your existence.
A lot of people are worried about what other people are doing instead of focusing on ourselves and trying to condi- tion our own spiritual heart. It’s important to be well-round- ed in terms of the mind, body and spirit.
It’s known that working on the physical heart by keeping in shape relieves a lot of stress. But we also have to nourish our souls. Whether it’s reading scriptures, meditation, yoga or breathing techniques, there are many ways to condition the spiritual heart as well.
We have to stop, reflect and look deep within ourselves. Maybe the beatdown we’re getting is just God showing our resiliency. We can get through this.
