Oh, the weather outside was frightful, but kids still like dressing up to collect sweet treats. From the Ninth District to the 16th and 24th — and everywhere in between — officers made the best of the situation for youngsters by hosting them at district headquarters, dressing up at school or community events and even braving the elements for Trunk or Treat festivities as snowflakes fell on a Halloween few will forget.

When the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference came to town in October, Chicago Police Offi- cers not only performed their usual level best to keep the event safe, but many also took advantage of the chance to attend sessions on the important law enforce- ment topics of the day. As the festivities and CPD’s home-field advantage as host city drew to a close, Chicago’s finest joined with officers from New Orleans — the 2020 host city — for a group photo.
