Upcoming police memorial events
If you are planning on attending police memo- rial services during the month of May, listed below are some of the events planned, both locally and nationally, to honor our fallen. If you are travelling to these or any other events, please travel safely.
• May 1: Chicago Lodge 7 Memorial Service, 1412 W. Washington Blvd. (Noon)
• May 2: Illinois Police Reunion, Knights Action Park, Springfield
• May 3: Illinois Police Officers Memorial, 840 S Spring St., Springfield
• May 5: 14th Annual Run to Remember, Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, Chicago (8 a.m.)
• May 6: Annual St. Jude Police Memorial March, Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, Chicago (8 a.m.)
• May 11: 57th Annual Police Recognition Ceremony & Luncheon, 151 E. Wacker Drive, Chicago (Noon)
• May 12: Police Unity Tour Arrival Ceremony, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Washington D.C. (2 p.m.)
• May 12: National Police Week 5K, Washington D.C. (Visit www.nationalpoliceweek5k.com for more information and registration.)
• May 13-19: National Police Week “Tent City,” Lot 8 at RFK Stadium, 2400 East Capital Street S.E., Washington D.C. (11 a.m.-2 p.m. daily)
• May 13: 30th Annual Candlelight Vigil, the National Mall between 4th and 7th Streets, Washington D.C. (10 p.m.). Note location change due to construction at the National Law Enforcement Museum.
• May 14: Candlelight Vigil, Greater Cleveland Police Offi- cers Memorial, Huntington Park, Lakeside Ave. and West 3rd St., Cleveland, Ohio (10 p.m.)
• May 15: 37th Annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, the West Front of the U.S. Capitol, Washington D.C. (11 a.m.)
• May 18: Police Memorial Parade, Cleveland, Ohio (10:30 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m.)d
