  Wrapping up the spring session
The Illinois State Legislature went into over- time session to complete its work after a very busy spring session. Governor Pritzker had a very successful first legislative session. He and the General Assembly tackled many high-profile is- sues and had several wins. His working relation- ship with the Democratic supermajorities in the House and Senate appears to be productive and fruitful.
Some of the key issues that were passed this session include: raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour; legalizing adult recreational cannabis; expanding abortion laws in advance of anticipated challenges to Roe v. Wade at the federal level; ex- panding gambling, even to possibly include a Chicago casino in the future; other new casinos throughout Illinois; and an historic capital funding bill that includes a 19-cent increase in the Illinois gas tax.
In the next issue, I will provide a recap of the police-centric bills that passed the legislature.
