CPD Officers step up with citywide support for students going back to school

With a tunnel of cheering police officers and others from the community waiting to greet them with high-fives and hugs, students at O’Toole Elementary School in the 7th District began the new school year on an exciting note.
But, for all the free school supplies, do- nated uniforms and other goodies, the kids saved their biggest smiles for Mickey Mouse and Minnie. CPD Officers donned the Disney costumes and illustrated the extremes Chicago coppers are willing to hit when there is an opportunity to make a lasting impression on school children and emphasize the positive impact edu- cation can have on their communities.
The event at O’Toole on Sept. 5 was one of several throughout the City in which CPD Officers asserted back-to-school back-up leading up to the first day of school. For every student who gushed
