The 20th District partnered with the local Boys and Girls Club for a back-to-school push in August.
“We’re trying to change the stereotypes and the image these kids think that all police are out to get them and all cops are bad,” CAPS Officer Atour Bethishou Bethishou said. “Students learn stereotypes about police from oth- ers, and showing them a better side of officers helps break those images.”
The positive side showed itself as about 200 students attended the event. They received a free lunch and do- nated school supplies. Officers also handed out approxi- mately 190 backpacks to the children. d
