Cops in the Community
The weather has certainly been frightful, with a polar vortex blasting the city with unspeakably cold temps. As usual, Chicago Police Officers didn’t let the numbing chill in the air keep them from serving and protecting — or going beyond the call to connect with residents and local children.

Recognizing the importance of the right gear during the winter, 15th Dis- trict officers took deserving students from John Hay School to the local Skechers store to pick up some new boots.
A hot cup of coffee and some conversation were in order during the 12th District’s Coffee with a Cop night at Ella’s Corner on West Jackson.
To supplement the depart- ment’s LEMART program, of- ficers in the 19th participated in a training program for the treatment of traumatic inju- ries. The event was supported by the U.S. Navy and the Fed- eral Health Care Center.
