While on patrol, Officers John Munoz and Walter Bland of Unit 051, Midway Airport, noticed a person suffering a medical emergency. The officers, assisted by Officers Michael Ephraim and Sherida Shepherd, immediately moved to help the citizen in peril.
While Officers Ephraim and Shepherd secured the area, Officers Munoz and Bland started CPR on the citizen. Officer Bland began chest compressions and Officer Munoz attached the AED and jump-started his heart. The AED devise signaled a heartbeat.
Had it not been for the courageous acts of all involved offi- cers, this citizen would have succumbed to a heart attack. Offi- cers Munoz, Bland, Shepherd and Ephraim worked collectively to secure the area and save the life of a traveler.
