 Chicago Lodge 7 Officer Awards
In April 2021, the entire 1164 tactical team, sergeant included, submitted To/Froms requesting to end their details to the tact team.
This tact team prides itself on being No. 1 in the city for nar- cotics arrests three years running. These arrest stats were not just hypes and bust-outs. The 1164 team set up surveillance, co- ordinated investigations and arrested the “right offenders.” By removing drug dealers from the streets, this tact team struck a crippling blow to the gangs and violence fueled by the illicit drug trade on the city’s West Side.
But due to constant cancellations of days off, changing of their schedules at a minute’s notice and being told they did not generate enough blue cards and PCIs, the 1164 team drafted To/ Froms. Their tact lieutenant reluctantly signed and approved the
To/Froms, knowing that his dedicated officers and sergeant had been forced to make this difficult decision as a team.
The To/Froms were sent up the chain to the commander, who immediately attempted to halt his highest-producing tact team’s departure by stating, “You can’t leave during civil unrest.”
Unfortunately for the commander, there was no civil unrest or declared emergency at that time, and he was forced to sign off on their To/Froms. The 1164 team was sent back to the watch, many to the least desirable first watch, even though they had enough seniority for days.
It is with great honor that Chicago Lodge 7 salutes the 1164 Tact Team for their show of solidarity and presents these offi- cers with the Fraternalism Award.
