The chief negotiator for the law firm that represents the City has not been in the room with us because he’s been spending so much time with the teachers. And he is the only real power to get the deal done.
I find it interesting that the teachers have been without a contract since June. We have been without one for two and a half years. But they are able to strike. We have more respect for the people of Chicago and keeping them safe. Now, the may- or’s office, the City and their law firm need to treat us with the respect we deserve. It’s time for the City to get our contract

done or go to arbitration.
If they can do so and resolve our issues, that would be great.
But they want us to give up things and give us nothing in re- turn. Some of the things the teachers went after and received are going to be a benefit to us. We will go after them as well.
We’re anxious to get back to the bargaining table. The big- gest problem with the City is the desire to take our rights away and give us nothing. We will not allow this to happen. The City needs to get this done. And now!
C’mon, mayor. You gave the teachers a deal. We deserve bet- ter.
