Recording Secretary’s Report
From my family to yours
Happy holidays and a happy New Year from my family to yours.
I like saying these words. They are what I grew up with. They are great holiday traditions in many families. May all of you be safe, healthy and joyful this time of year. Please, check on your loved ones, friends and fellow Lodge members this holiday sea- son.
Chicago Lodge 7 has not only the largest mem- bership in the entire FOP, but it has the best mem- bership in the FOP. This year proved it with the valor
and courage you displayed in response to these epic times. Before I go any further, I would like to thank a few people and the organizations they represent for their donations and the donation drives they did for our servicemembers who are away from home defending our country’s freedom during the
holidays:
The Alliance of Hispanic Law Enforcement and member Jose
Sandoval (19th District tact) conducted a military donation drive over multiple days at the Police Academy for deployed Lodge 7 servicemembers.
Chicago Police Marines and Detachment 533 Commander Paul Zogg (CPD sergeant) donated many snacks (pogey bait),
beef jerky, granola bars and trail mix, as well as challenge coins, to our troops.
Knights of Columbus member and Lodge 7 Financial Secre- tary Jim Jakstavich donated funds to support the military care package drive.
The American Knights of Chicago motorcycle club and their club president Justin Homer (Unit 189) made a generous dona- tion for our deployed members as well.
Father Dan Brandt of the Chicago Police Chaplains Ministry is also donating items to our military members.
The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, with the help of Dawn Dolan, is donating hats and luggage tags.
And thanks to Lodge 7 Administrative Assistant Maria Flores for helping me coordinate this effort.
A special thank you to all those who participated in our Mil- itary Care Package Drive. It is hard on military members to be away from their loved ones this holiday season. So, this was the least that Lodge 7 and its military committee could do for its deployed military members.
I wish all members and their families a safe and peaceful hol- iday season. God bless you and your families. Please feel free to contact me at rnoceda@chicagofop.org.
