19th District gives it up for kids and frontline workers
Officers in the 19th District felt giving back to the community has never been more necessary than during the COVID-19 pan- demic. So they took matters into their own hands by supporting residents of the community and frontline workers to keep push- ing through hard times.
Standing outside Lakeside Square Apartments, several of- ficers and the tact team members held blue bags filled with clothes and toys to give to young residents on Nov. 13. The gifts featured a training bike, toy stroller and a mini playhouse.
And not only did they put a smile on children’s faces, officers also showed appreciation for workers. On Nov. 10, with the help of local businesses, they said “thank you” to the nurses, doctors and staff at Advocate Health Illinois Masonic Hospital. Beauti- ful weather set the scene for the hospital to be awarded with a Certificate of Recognition for their efforts in the fight to end the pandemic. Local singer John Vincent provided a live music per- formance that nurses and staff danced to while enjoying a meal that members helped provide.
