Margit Hartl was introduced to decorative painting in 1982. In a small studio she picked up a book by Mary
Jo Leisure and she liked what she saw. For the next ten years Margit studied with wonderful teachers and at
conventions throughout the country. Meeting Mary Jo Leisure in 1995 was a delight for Margit. In 1992, Margit
joined SDP and began teaching from her home studio. She still finds joy in designing, teaching, traveling, and
writing books today. She is also very involved in the Connecticut Society of Decorative Painters chapter and New
England Traditions (NET) conventions. Margit’s designs graced NET’s 2005 and 2011 cataloges. She wishes to
thank her dear husband, teachers, students, and friends, and hopes that her pleasant painting experiences will
continue for years to come. You can write to Margit at 50 Laurel Hill Drive, Niantic, CT 06357; call her at (860) 691-2103; email her at margithartl@att.net; and visit her website at www.artbymargithartl.com.
