                                                                     ACRYLIC
Basecoat the roof with Raw Sienna, and then shade down the left side with Asphaltum. Apply a highlight of Cadmium Yellow down the right side of the roof.
sTonE HousE: Base the stone house with Antique White. Pounce Khaki Tan over the Antique White using a damp sea sponge. Draw the lines of each stone using a ruler and a no. 2 pencil. Additional coats of color will wet the pencil lines, which will lend to the shading.
Shade the bottom and left side of each stone with As- phaltum on the 3⁄8" angular brush. Highlight the top and right side of each stone with Snow White.
Shade under the roof and down its left side with As- phaltum.
RED HousE: Basecoat the house with Autumn Red. Shade down the left side and under the roof, first with Black Plum and then with Soft Black. Paint the windows and door as previously described. Paint the roof following the instruc- tions used for the stone house.
Paint the trim around the door and windows with Snow White. Paint the trim around the house with Cocoa. Paint the steps with Neutral Grey, shading the bottom
of each with Soft Black. Apply a Driftwood highlight to the top of each.
Dry-brush the path leading to the house with Asphal- tum, and add darker Asphaltum shades on both sides.
SHRUBS
Tip: Taping off the bottom of each shrub will make it easy to maintain a straight edge.
GREEn sHRuBs: Load the 1⁄4" deerfoot stippler with An- tique Green, and pounce on the shapes of the shrubs. Let them dry and then repeat. While they are still wet, add highlights of Light Parchment to the top of each. Let this dry, and then shade the bottom of each with a sideload of Asphaltum.
RED sHRuBs: Use the same process described for the green shrubs, but replace the green colors with Georgia Clay for the basecoat, Orange Twist for the highlights, and Russet for bottom shading. If the Orange Twist highlights are not strong enough, add a touch of Cadmium Yellow.
FINISHING
Shade under each building, tree, and shrub with As- phaltum.
Let the entire piece dry, and then carefully erase any re- maining transfer lines. Sign the piece before applying two or three coats of DecoArt DuraClear Satin Varnish accord- ing to the manufacturer’s instructions.
