BACKGROUND
Now and then, pick up another
color and place a stroke or two, then promptly return to your main color. Continue like this until the entire paper is covered. You will see brushstrokes, but that is okay! Remember to let the water do some of the work for you. Let this dry, and then take a look at it. Do you wish it were darker or you had put more of a particular color? You can
still do it! Be sure the paper is very dry, which helps to set the paint into the paper. Gently repeat the background process: carefully wet the entire background around the bird, with clean water. Check for that shine! Stroke
on additional color while the paper still has a shine. Strokes are okay, just don’t play. Let it dry.
STEMS
After the background is totally dry, you can paint the stems. Fill them in on dry paper, with the lighter value green you mixed for the background.
FINISHING
Erase the Masking Fluid from the daisy petals. Use a rubber cement eraser or even just a clean finger
to rub off the masking fluid gently. Underneath, you should find clean, white paper. Leave those areas clean white! If some of the hard edges bother you, use a soft scrubby brush to gently rub the edge and soften....but only a few! As you can see, I left most of mine sharp-edged and beautifully white.
That’s it! Sign and enjoy.
