Merchandise repleneshment
IN & OUT SECTION
Every store should create a designated “In & Out”/ Bestsellers sections for high turning, priority merchandise that needs to be flowed in a 24-48-hour time frame.
• The In & Out Section should be placed in the most accessible area of your back room.
• The “most accessible area of your back room” is defined as the first and best available hanging/folding section (i.e. Proforma or wall hanging/shelving) that is closest to your stockroom door. NOTE: IF THAT SPACE IF CURRENTLY HOUSING OTHER MERCHANDISE, POP, HARDWARE OR OTHER MICS. ITEMS, THOSE SHOULD BE RELOCATED TO ANOTHER AREA OF THE BACK ROOM TO MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR NEW IN & OUT SECTION.
• The In & Out Section is to hold merchandise that will be moved onto the sales floor within a 24-48 (MAXIMUM) hour rotation (Hot Zone).
• No merchandise should remain in you In & Out Section beyond 48 hours. If so, it is to be removed from the In & Out Section.
• No fixtures, signage, or other material should be in the In & Out Section.
• In & Out Sections should be refreshed with new merchandise based on daily promotions, high sell through areas, events, etc.
During non-peak hours, you can afford to be choosy about what items get selected to be pulled to the sales floor based on size, colour, and need for repleneshment. During peak hours, you simply need to flood the sales floor with all available merchandise to keep pace with sales. While there is a need to be strategic with how, when and what to push, the sense of urgency for repleneshment, the time to get merchandise from the back room to the sales floor, and the pace needing to be ramped up are all important factors.
