 Line leadership
During the year, most stores line up their customers in “Box Office” lines, meaning lines that naturally line up in front of operating cash registers and customers tend to queue themselves.
During the peak period, we want to be much more mindful about how we ask customers to queue. We want to create something called a “bank line” where we snake customers around accessory fixtures to create and “S” and the line feeds all available registers. This will ensure there is no slow or fast line, just one line that speeds up the transition experience.
LINE-UPS AT THE CASH DESK
• Adjust quantity of multis and their positioning space allocation based on your store’s configuration and inventories.
• Create an effective shopping flow for the customer to find what she is looking for and optimize unit per transaction (UPT).
• Use multis and queue barrier units to facilitate line-ups. Position them to create clear paths so that customers know where to go.
