BRETT MOFFITT

Birth Date: August 12, 1993 Hometown: Bakersfield, CA
Birth Date: August 7, 1992 Hometown: Grimes, IA
Team: No. 24 Chevrolet Silverado / GMS Racing
Team: No. 16 Toyota Tundra/Roush Fenway Racing
Less than three weeks after the NASCAR GANDER OUTDOORS Truck Series ended last
November, Brett Moffitt learned he was out of a job at Hattori Racing Enterprises.

The 2018 championship trophy, however, was an impressive addition to his driving
resume that quickly got him hired at GMS Racing.

Moffitt was pushed out of Hattori because 24-year-old driver Austin Hill was
able to bring much-needed sponsorship to the team. But in the process,
GMS dropped 2016 truck series champion Johnny Sauter to make room
              for Moffitt.

Last year’s championship was a Herculean effort by a race team
with only 10 full-time employees. Together they out-worked
better-funded teams, winning six times – at Atlanta, Iowa,
FEATURED DRIVERS season with consecutive wins at the final two races at
Chicagoland and Michigan, before closing out the

Phoenix and Homestead. The win at Iowa came less than
43 miles from his home at Grimes, Iowa.

He came to the Championship 4 race knowing regardless
of his finish, he’d probably would be replaced shortly after
the season. And yet, he managed to block all that doubt and
uncertainty to focus solely on the race. He responded by leading the
final 23 laps and winning by two seconds.

“I mean, I’ve wanted to quit a hundred times,” he said. “I’ve been at some really
low points in my career, and I let this consume my whole life, and I’ve been in
some miserable spots in life. But my family and my father have always stuck
behind me and taught me a lesson that it doesn’t really matter what happens in
life. If you keep working and you believe in yourself, it’s going to happen, and they
believe in me, and they give me the opportunity to keep bettering myself.”

Perhaps the most curious statistic from 2018 was the fact all 13 of his top-10 finishes
              were in the top five.

Although he had offers from the Monster Energy NASCAR and Xfinity Series, he
felt they came from teams that weren’t ready to contend for wins on a regular basis.
On the other hand, GMS, has built one of the biggest powerhouses in trucks with 23
combined wins in 340 starts since 2013.
