sushi selected by the chef. Next up is the first major part of the meal: braised Wagyu short rib presented in a long bone with roasted marrow. This decadent experience is followed by a palate cleanser course, since you are likely to need a break after so much beef. Hold on tight, though, because you’re not through yet.
The most impressive feature of this tasting menu pits Japanese Wagyu against American. Smaller portions of main-event entrees allow you to make your own judgements about the quality of these perfect steaks. Take your time with this course. This one plate is worth the price of admission on its own!
The tasting menu experience rounds out with a simple but pleasant dessert of water cake set atop a yuzu crumble. Think lightly sweetened gelatin on top of a citrusy cracker crust. Blackberry sake sauce elevates this sweet finish with a punch of tartness. As you enjoy your dessert, you are also treated to a Japanese green tea ceremony. As your server mixes the matcha, another explains the significance of the ceremony, adding an historical element. You probably didn’t think you would learn something at dinner, did you?
For the ultimate in multi-course dining, there is a chef’s table experience in the Water Room. This nine-course meal costs a bit more than the Omakase tasting menu and definitely requires a reservation. One of Takumi-Tei’s chefs will spend the night with you, explaining the choices behind each course. The table seats a minimum of six Guests and a
maximum of eight.
If your children are along for the culinary ride, there
are some sophisticated options for your little gourmands. They can enjoy some of the same Wagyu short rib, salmon, or roast duck that the big kids get to eat. Cake with honey meringue and custard or cheesecake and ice cream can complete their meals.
Takumi-Tei also offers plenty of drinks to accompany your meal. Non-alcoholic beverages like the ginger mimosa or Okinawa sunshine provide all of the flavor without any alcohol. Several specialty cocktails highlight unique Japanese spirits, blended in surprising and delicious combinations. You can also enjoy sake, Japanese beer, or a variety of wines from around the world. For those who partake in the Omakase tasting menu, there is also an option to add an alcoholic tasting experience alongside each course. Infused spirits, cocktails, and subtle wine selections complement each food course you will enjoy.
The Takumi-Tei experience is like nothing else at Walt Disney World. As such, you should prepare yourself for a pricier meal than most. This signature dining experience does not accept Disney Dining Plans, nor does it allow Tables in Wonderland discounts at this time. Reservations are encouraged for this exciting, new destination at Epcot. Reach out to your travel planners or call 1-407-WDW-DINE.
