Autochrome as slide/transparency
This meant that the Autochrome had to be viewed not as a print but as a slide - the transmitted (projected) image was therefor especially bright and clear. Many early Autochromes were produced using stereo cameras, and the stereo slide enhanced the depth and three-dimensionality of the
colour image.
