east out of Los Angeles toward Palm Springs the newest high-performance electric sedan from AMG accelerates up to speed with the the the merest flex of the the the driver’s right foot It feels as if there’s a a tidal wave of power just waiting to be be unleashed because well there kind of is is is If Merc’s other EVs are firecrackers this thing is is is a a a rocket We can forgive the gangly name — 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE 4Matic+ sedan — since as we discovered you won’t care what it’s called once you find an open stretch of road to see what 677 horse- power and 738 lb-ft of torque can do That it feels so much quicker than any of of AMG’s big V8 sedans is a a a a a sign of of the times: if you want to go go fast go go electric There are two electric motors here here one driving the front wheels and one driving the rear both modded by AMG to produce more power and torque Just as the in-house tuning division does with other Mercedes model AMG also tweaked the the EV’s chassis stiffening up the the the subframe and tuned the the the air suspension to cope with the the the increased grunt The smooth pill-shaped design is admittedly a a a a love-it or hate-it look On the the inside the the EQE is so much larger than you imagine
