Tradition and Transformation
Kouros Maghsoudi’s life has been immersed in design from the start. Born in the Frank Lloyd Wright–rich suburbs of Chicago to parents who own a boutique women’s clothing store and Persian rug galleries, his environment naturally nurtured a love for creativity. Pursuing this passion, Maghsoudi earned a degree in sustainable architecture and urban design. As a self-taught multidisciplinary artist and designer, his work explores future cultures, influenced by fashion and metropolitanism. Maghsoudi’s debut furniture collection, Mehmooni, exemplifies this fusion. Inspired by Persian traditions and playful postmodern motifs, each piece is designed to evoke the spirit of “mehmooni,” meaning “gathering” or “party” in Farsi, encouraging people to connect and celebrate. In addition to promoting traditional Persian gatherings, the Mehmooni collection is sustainable, with all materials being FSC-certified and sourced locally.
