1800 TEQUILA × SHARP
Beyond the Margarita
Three great reasons to keep a bottle of premium tequila on your bar this fall
SOME THINGS ARE BEST ENJOYED SEASONALLY. Tequila, however, is not one of those things. Unlike, say, eggnog, which is only available one month out of the year for good reason, Mexico’s signature spirit is good for far more than poolside mar- garitas and palomas (as tasty as they are). No one makes a better case for this than the makers of 1800, whose range of tequilas lends itself just as well to cool-weather drinks like the Old Fashioned
as it does to iconic summer ones. Crafted from 100 per cent blue Weber agave, 1800 has been using the same time-honoured recipe for over 200 years, and its complex flavours are complemented by a characteristic smoothness. That means it’ll lend itself to a surprisingly wide range of cocktails and occasions, from the dog days of summer through the depths of winter. Here are three to add to this season’s cocktail repertoire.
1800 PICK ME UP GLASSWARE: Coffee Glass
TEQUILA: 1800 Reposado. A six-month slumber in American and French oak casks gives this top-shelf tequila its bright honey colour and notes of caramel and spice — the perfect companion to coffee and cream.
INGREDIENTS:
1800 AUTUMN COLADA GLASSWARE: Collins
TEQUILA: 1800 Coconut. The world’s first flavour-infused tequila offers natural coconut flavour with all the smoothness of 1800 and no cloying sweetness. Who says piña coladas are only good on vacation?
INGREDIENTS:
2oz 1800 Coconut 11⁄2oz Coconut Milk 21⁄2oz Pineapple Juice 3⁄4oz Lime Juice
3⁄4oz Fall Spice Syrup Pinch Grated Nutmeg
METHOD: Build all ingredients into a Col- lins glass and top with ice. Stir and garnish with grated nutmeg, dehydrated pineapple, and a pineapple spear.
1800 JALISCO OLD FASHIONED GLASSWARE: Old Fashioned
TEQUILA: 1800 Añejo. Its dark amber co- lour, oaky vanilla aroma, and nutty toffee notes have helped make this the most-award- ed añejo tequila in Mexico. That means it’s good on its own and great in this twist on the classic Old Fashioned.
INGREDIENTS:
 2 oz 6 oz 1⁄2 oz
1800 Reposado
Hot Coffee
Café de Olla Syrup Lightly whipped cream
2 oz
1⁄4 oz

1800 Anejo Orange-Agave Syrup Orange Bitters Aromatic Bitters

METHOD: Build all ingredients into an Old Fashioned glass with ice. Stir to chill and dilute, and garnish with a burnt cin- namon stick.
