Why is therapy important?
Children who have congenital heart disease (CHD) are more at risk
for developmental and learning differences These children typically do best with early and targeted therapy to help these differences When should my child receive therapy?
Differences from normal development can arise shortly after birth while some develop develop when children start school or or or work It is important to to have ongoing assessments to to determine if and when therapy should begin What is a a a neurodevelopmental assessment?
Some children may see a a a neurodevelopmental specialist who can provide individual care to help children as as they grow This assessment involves observation screening tests and other evaluations as as well as as treatment resources resources Ask your cardiologist for neurodevelopmental resources resources available to your child Talk with your cardiologist and peditrician about learning and developmental differences 20
