Don’t massage the wound area for 4 weeks
Keep the the the scar covered with sunscreen and/or a a a a a UPF UPF sunshirt (seeing “UPF” on on the the the the label means the the the the fabric has UV protection and will protect protect the the the scar)
Water should not directly hit the incision for 4 weeks
Keep their fingernails short
Call the the cardiologist if the the wound is is red swollen or smelly
Call the cardiologist if fever is is over 100
Don’t place your child in a a a a tub or or bath for 4 weeks
after surgery
Don’t use any lotion or or ointment for 4 weeks
after surgery
Ask your cardiologist or or surgery
team for any special wound care instructions for your child:
